Middle Grade Ninja: AND THEN… (cover reveal)
I’m so excited today, Esteemed Reader, as this cover is something I’ve been wanting to share with you for months now and the actual title of The And Then Story is something I’ve been waiting to share with you for five years (I started the first draft at the same time I started this blog).
I can’t wait for you to be able to read Banneker Bones and the Giant Robot Bees, but it’s not quite ready. Close, but not quite. As I write this, Adam Smith has completed 38 of 73 illustrations and believe me, when you finally have this book in front of you, you’ll want all 73 illustrations.
Banneker Bones and the Giant Robot Bees should be released this fall and as soon as it is, I’ll never stop telling you about it:) For now, I’ll just say that this book, in my humble and totally unbiased opinion, is the best thing I’ve written. Not that I don’t love my zombies, but I can’t wait for Esteemed Readers to hold this story in their hands.
Until then, I’ve got a lot of work to do. And I’m working on next year’s books, which is why this blog is going to remain quiet after a short burst of reviews, beginning next week. If anyone would like to guest post, later this summer I’ll be opening up the blog to folks with something interesting to say.
This cover is the combined work of Adam Smith and Steven Novak, the designer of all my previous covers (each an amazing work of art, again, in my oh-so-humble opinion). Mr. Novak will be here to face the 7 Questions next week and eventually I’ll rope Adam Smith into some features here as well.
It may be premature to reveal this cover, but I want to promise Esteemed Reader that middle grade books are coming (they just take longer). In the meantime, my horror for older readers is paying bills and exceeding my wildest expectations for success, so I’m definitely going to do some more of that as well. All Right Now: A Short Zombie Story is in final copy edits and will be published n July.
So, even though I’m going to be talking primarily about zombies for a bit longer, I want this cover in the upper right hand corner of the blog as my promise to you that I haven’t forgotten what sort of ninja I am. The middle grade will be here soon.
